It is an action-advanced shooter video game on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. It is the second installment in the "Call of Duty" series to have been built on a modern setting. The player takes control of various characters during single-player missions, changing perspectives throughout the game. Black Box is set in modern times with battles involving terrorists, world leaders and military forces all over the world. The gameplay mostly revolves around gunfights with enemies of varying degrees of difficulty—from regular infantry grunts to highly trained snipers or heavy assault soldiers outfitted with heavy body armor—with cover being used extensively during firefights. There are also some vehicle missions in the game, though none of these sections put the player in control of the vehicles they comprise. The game features multiple levels which can be shot at in an environment that is "larger than life". The environments allow for free-roam gameplay by the player. Three game modes are featured: Campaign, Special Ops, and Multiplayer. The multiplayer mode allows players to either play ranked matches or unranked matches by using their Xbox Live or PlayStation Network accounts to access servers that feature different rules and maps. Throughout the single-player campaign, the player is tasked with completing various objectives to progress through each level. These objectives can be completed by either leading a small squad of AI controlled characters, or by playing alone against the enemies in a sandbox-style environment. In order to keep track of any objectives that need to be completed, the player must find and collect "tags"—small pieces of plastic randomly affixed to dead enemies. Black Box is set during modern times with terrorists, world leaders and military forces all over the world. Battles are sometimes viewed from above by drones or other planes stationed above, although these views are often downplayed in favour of the perspectives used in the game (ie; ground-level). The gameplay varies heavily between single-player and multiplayer. The player can freely roam through environments and take up different roles, which include: soldier, medic, heavy weapons specialist, recon sniper, and engineer. The missions vary from standard objective-based missions to stealth missions with many different objectives to complete. For example, the player may be tasked with getting "tags" for their teammates or saving hostages from an attacking enemy force. Single-player mode is a combination of a sandbox mode where the player can do anything they want as long as they accomplish their objective(s). There are no set paths but the player must follow a storyline to progress. There are also scripted events that are non-negotiable, but the player is given the option to use stealth or brute force to complete their objectives. The story also has many different endings, which are determined by what actions the player decides to take. The Special Ops mode allows players to play individual missions that do not impact the main storyline in any way. These missions can be unlocked by either earning a Gold ranking in certain challenges in the single-player campaign or by completing various achievements on Xbox Live or PlayStation Network. cfa1e77820
